True North Square, is a brand new mixed-used office, retail and residential development in downtown Winnipeg. It is connected to the MTS centre, home of the Winnipeg Jets. The goal for the owners of True North Square was to redefine the heart of the city with its ambitious urban design, curated retail offering and public square.
Beauleigh working with the team at True North, along with the architects and designers created the retail vision and strategy for the 33,000 square feet of retail in the project. Beauleigh worked collaboratively with these teams to develop the plan, layout and configuration for the two levels of retail, then conceptualized the vision for the food hall and curated the tenant mix, carefully targeting and selecting from the best independent operators in the city.
Hargrave St. Market opened in December 2019. With a focus on chef-driven concepts, the food hall is home to some of the city’s best local operators including Bobby Mottola’s first-to-market Yard Burger, The Good Fight Taco, Rose Bar and his second Pizzeria Gusto location (Gusto North). Also part of the tenant line-up are Saburo Kitchen (new concept for Yujiro Japanese and Gaijin Izayaka), Fools and Horses (third location), Miss Browns (second location) and Lake of the Woods Brewery (from Kenora, Ontario) which will also be brewing beer on site in addition to operating a retail store and taproom located on the first floor of the tower.
A new first-to-market Italian urban grocery concept of 5,000 SF, which is also curated and operated by Mottola will open late February.
